Description
Soulful India’s Gharaat Chakki Atta brings back the wholesome, traditional purity of Himalayan water-mills (Gharats). By harnessing eco-friendly, zero-electricity technology, this process ensures that the flour retains its natural nutrients, fiber, and authentic earthy flavor.
Step-by-Step Production Process
-
1. Sourcing & Cleaning:
-
Premium-quality, locally harvested wheat grains are carefully handpicked.
-
The grains undergo thorough cleaning and destoning to remove dust, husk, and impurities while retaining the grain’s innate integrity.
-
-
2. Sourcing Renewable Water Energy (Gharat Setup):
-
The milling operation is established beside fast-flowing, pristine Himalayan hill streams.
-
Natural water current is channeled through a customized chute, directing a high-velocity stream onto the blades of a traditional turbine located beneath the mill house.
-
-
3. Low-RPM Stone Grinding:
-
The force of the water rotates a vertical wooden shaft connected to heavy, paired indigenous stone grinders (Sil-Battatta).
-
-
4. Slow and Cool Milling:
-
Cleaned wheat is fed steadily into the funnel hopper.
-
Unlike high-speed commercial steel mills that generate intense heat and destroy vital nutrients, the slow rotation of the stone mill keeps the temperature low. This preserves the grain’s natural germ, bran, and essential Vitamin B and fiber complexes.
-
-
5. Quality Control & Eco-Packaging:
-
The freshly milled, nutrient-dense Atta is collected, texture-checked for a fine yet rustic consistency, and packed securely in eco-friendly packaging to lock in its rich aroma, freshness, and soulful goodness.
